AllianzGI strengthens European and German equity franchise with two senior hires
- Daniel Ceccarelli to join as CIO Equity Europe on 1 December 2026
- Christoph Ohme to join as Head of German Equity on 1 January 2027
08.10.2026 | Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI), one of the world’s leading active asset managers, is strengthening its European Equity franchise with two senior hires. On 1 December 2026, Daniel Ceccarelli will join AllianzGI as CIO Equity Europe, and on 1 January 2027, Christoph Ohme will join the company as Head of German Equity.
Daniel Ceccarelli is a senior global equity investor with over 25 years of capital-markets experience. He is joining AllianzGI from Union Investment, where he has served as Senior Portfolio Manager and Functional Head of Investment Strategies ESG & Impact and recently as Functional Head of Concentrated Strategies since July 2016. In these roles, he oversaw strategies with up to EUR 13 billion in assets under management across retail funds and institutional mandates. Previously, he held senior leadership and client-facing positions at Credit Suisse, CA Cheuvreux and Goldman Sachs. As CIO Equity Europe, he will oversee the teams managing AllianzGI’s European equity strategies – among others core, dividend, value, conviction and small cap. He will be reporting to Michael Heldmann, CIO Equity.
Christoph Ohme is a highly experienced equity investor and investment leader with over 20 years of experience across German and European equities. He is joining AllianzGI from Oddo BHF Group, where he served as Head of German Equities. Before joining Oddo BHF in 2024, Christoph Ohme spent 18 years at Deutsche Asset Management / DWS. There, he managed and co-managed several flagship German and European equity strategies with assets exceeding EUR 12 billion. Christoph will be reporting to Daniel Ceccarelli.
Upon arrival of the two new hires, Christoph Berger, currently CIO Equity Europe, will take on the new role of Head of European Equity Research within AllianzGI's Equity division.
Michael Heldmann, CIO Equity, comments: "We are pleased to announce this strengthening of our equity capabilities for clients, with Daniel Ceccarelli and Christoph Ohme both bringing distinguished investment track records to AllianzGI. With his strong leadership background and proven success in business building, Daniel Ceccarelli is well placed to take our European equity franchise forward. And with Christoph Ohme heading the German equity team, we are confident in opening up the next chapter of success stories for Germany’s oldest equity funds. At the same time, we are grateful to Christoph Berger for his leadership and significant contribution to our Europe Equity franchise over the past years and are pleased that we will continue to benefit from his investment expertise in his new research-focused role.”
