AllianzGI to launch its first five Active ETFs in Europe

  • New Active ETF range will comprise five key strategies across equities and fixed income
  • Should initially be available in 4 key European markets including Germany, Italy, UK and Switzerland, and distributed throughout Europe
  • First wave marks the beginning of a multi‑year AETF roll-out

19.06.2026 | Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has announced it will introduce its first five actively managed exchange-traded funds (Active ETFs) in Europe in the summer, upon regulatory approval, marking a key milestone in its strategy to expand access to its active investment expertise through innovative, client-focused solutions. This initial launch will be the start of a multi-year Active ETF roll-out.

Tobias Pross, CEO at AllianzGI, comments: “Building on our strong track record and experience in Asia, the launch of our first Active ETFs in Europe is an important milestone in our strategy to broaden access to AllianzGI’s active investment expertise. In today’s market environment of heightened volatility and macroeconomic uncertainty, active management is more important than ever. Active ETFs provide an additional way for us to help an even broader client base navigate that complexity, providing an investment vehicle that combines the benefits of active management with on-exchange intra-day pricing and transparency”.

The new Allianz Smart Active ETFs range includes five strategies spanning equities and fixed income, all built on AllianzGI’s established investment processes, expertise and risk management. The firm is taking a focused approach to European distribution, the products should be initially listed in four key markets—Italy, Switzerland, Germany and the UK supported by a single European platform designed to enable efficient cross-border passporting and broader distribution over time.

Our Smart Active ETFs combine broad market exposure with disciplined, systematic security selection, aiming to deliver incremental alpha. Our active equity ETFs are powered by our long-standing systematic equity investment platform, while our active fixed income ETFs are driven by our successful Advanced Fixed Income methodology, both of which offer the opportunity to deliver consistent outperformance. Our Active ETFs provide a disciplined engine that seeks to generate scalable, repeatable alpha alongside precision in risk and return.

The three equity strategies, Smart Global Equity, Smart Europe Equity and Smart US Equity active strategies invest in developed market equities (global, European or US equities respectively), applying a systematic and diversified approach to stock selection. All three equity Active ETF strategies are designed to deliver low tracking error versus benchmarks, daily liquidity, transparent rules and consistent alpha levers.

AllianzGI also introduces two Fixed Income AETFs. One is designed for investors seeking stable excess returns over euro‑denominated government bond markets. The Smart Corporate Bond Active ETF strategy applies the same disciplined framework to investment‑grade corporate bond markets, with a stronger emphasis on credit selection. Both fixed income Active ETF strategies aim to improve yield and quality versus traditional passive bond ETFs while retaining predictability and transparency.

This document is strictly private and confidential solely the intended recipient, it may not be copied, nor may its contents be passed or disclosed to any third parties Investors should note that unlike traditional mutual funds, shares of the AETFs can only be bought and sold on a secondary market through a broker or other eligible counterparty and cannot be purchased or redeemed directly from the Management Company, except by Authorised Participants via the primary market creation/redemption mechanism. As a result, investors may pay more or less than the current net asset value of a Sub-Fund when buying or selling shares on an exchange. Investing involves risk. The value of an investment and the income from it may fall as well as rise and investors might not get back the full amount invested. Investing in fixed income instruments may expose investors to various risks, including but not limited to creditworthiness, interest rate, liquidity and restricted flexibility risks. Changes to the economic environment and market conditions may affect these risks, resulting in an adverse effect to the value of the investment. During periods of rising nominal interest rates, the values of fixed income instruments (including positions with respect to short-term fixed income instruments) are generally expected to decline. Conversely, during periods of declining interest rates, the values of these instruments are generally expected to rise. Liquidity risk may possibly delay or prevent account withdrawals or redemptions. Past performance does not predict future returns. If the currency in which the past performance is displayed differs from the currency of the country in which the investor resides, then the investor should be aware that due to the exchange rate fluctuations the performance shown may be higher or lower if converted into the investor’s local currency.
